There are three types of Practice

Block, Serial, and Random Practice

  • Block – A form of practice where you do the same thing over and over again
    • For example, hitting 7iron after 7iron
  • Serial – Introduces variability
    • An example of serial practice would be hitting 7iron, 8iron, 9iron; and continuing to do so in a loop
  • Random – Exactly as it sounds, hitting random shots
    • Hitting left to right shape with random clubs, never the same one twice in a row

Essence of the different types of practice

 There is a time and a place for all three of these types of practice. Block practice is great when you are working on a new skill. Maybe you are working on shaping the ball left to right and you are focussed on hitting that shape with a 7iron. To build on that example you could than introduce the same shot shape to your brain but use three different clubs in the same order over and over, which would be serial practice. Then there is random practice, where in our example you would be hitting that left to right shape with random clubs, never the same one twice in a row.

Perfect Practice gives the golfers the ability to get an honest random practice session in. In the random full swing mode, the app will issue distances that are within you ability based on the distances you entered in your profile when you set up you bag. Enter the outcome after each shot.

Application and System

The app will store the data so it can be viewed in your online personal dashboard. Each practice session can also viewed in a summary format on your mobile device, for quick reference of how well you performed at the end of your session.

Random practice has a unique effect on the brain. It makes each shot more distinct from the next, which makes it more meaningful to the brain resulting in more elaborate memory representations. In other words, random practice on the range more easily translates to performance on the course.

Receive Insights

The app will get to know you over time. As it starts to identify your tendencies it will occasionally offer you Block and Serial practice sessions based on your performance to help you work on the things that you have struggled with.
